On Wednesday, March 28, Adobe released a new version of Flash. The updated version addresses two vulnerabilities in version 184.108.40.206. Also, for Windows systems using Internet Explorer or Firefox web browsers, the version 11.2 update adds a silent update function. Google Chrome still uses the built in update mechanism integrated in the Chrome browser.
The silent update function will be added to Flash for Mac in the future.
Users are encouraged to update to the following versions.
- Flash Player 220.127.116.11 and earlier for Windows, Macintosh and Linux – 18.104.22.168
- Flash Player 22.214.171.124 and earlier for Solaris – 126.96.36.199
Details on the silent update option:
After users update Flash, they’ll be asked how they want to receive Adobe updates going forward. The updater gives three options, including one that will automatically install updates in the background. If selected, the updater will check with Adobe every hour until it receives a response. If there’s no available update, the updater will check back 24 hours later.
