I just found the article below that offers five tips for better mac security. Number 0 on their list of 5 (really 6) is upgrade to Mavericks OS. Having had a look at the number of AgriLife Mac systems that are running OS-X prior to 10.7, I see their statement about businesses lagging behind on upgrading certainly applies here. With Windows XP being end-of-lived, it’s clear that workstations running non-supported operating system versions are going to be a bigger focus going forward.
For those of you that have yet to have a Management Review process take place recently, you can be assured I that I will be looking closely at what OS versions are installed on workstations over the next few months when I perform an IT management review. I suggest you aggressively begin identifying these systems and formulating plans for their replacement/upgrade.
